Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Wednesday visited the girl who was molested by three youngsters.
In the horrific incident which took place in Kanigiri town of Prakasam district, three youngsters molested the girl, uploaded the video on social media, and shared it on WhatsApp.
Speaking to the media, Nannapaneni Rajakumari said that she met the survivor at her house to give her strength. She was accompanied by Satya Yesu Babu, Prakasam’s Superintendent of PoliceThe teary-eyed Chairperson said that the government will make all efforts to relieve the girl from depression and trauma.
The government will bear the expenses of the girl’s education, and would relocate her either to Ongole or Guntur, she added.
Expressing that educated youngsters indulging in such shameful acts was deplorable, she said that they will be strictly punished.
Following the visit of the Chairperson and the SP, several villagers flocked to the girl’s home.
The perpetrators were identified as Sai, Karthik and Pawan, and were arrested on Wednesday. The incident took place nearly three months ago. However, the girl had complained to the police after the video went viral.
The attempt was a bid to take revenge as the survivor had broken up with Sai, the key accused. Sai plotted to gang-rape the girl at an abandoned place in the village. The accused convinced the girl to meet him at an isolated place on the pretext to discuss their relationship. The incident was also filmed, which was later shared on social media.
Police have arrested the perpetrators and have filed cases against relevant sections of the Nirbhaya Act.
