‘Bridegroom forever’: Jagan gets personal with Pawan Kalyan

Pawan Kalyan fans and others slammed the YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy for his personal attack against the JSP chief.

In comments unbecoming of Andhra Pradesh’s Leader of Opposition, YS Jaganmohan Reddy called actor-politician Pawan Kalyan ‘nitya pellikoduku’ (bridegroom forever), claiming that the Jana Sena party chief lacks values.

Getting personal, the YSRCP leader on Tuesday said, “He speaks about values… where does he have values? He has four wives. He changes them as if changing new cars every four or five years. Had we done the same thing, what will people say? Wouldn’t they have called us ‘nitya pellikoduku’ and put us behind bars. Isn’t it polygamy?”

Jagan went on to say that he feels sad that people are forced to take seriously those who turn political just six months before elections. His statement was in reference to Pawan Kalyan’s recent statewide tour.

The YSRCP president’s comments were in response to a question by a reporter during a press conference at Samalkot, East Godavari district.

Incidentally, Pawan Kalyan will be touring East Godavari district.

Continuing to attack Pawan Kalyan, Jagan said, “It is our karma that we are forced to listen to people like Pawan Kalyan. For four years, the same man along with Chandrababu Naidu and BJP did Kaapuram (a Telugu euphemism for a couple having a marital relationship). Now, six months before elections, he’s coming out and saying that he did a mistake and claiming that he’s a Pathivratha (virtuous wife).”

Further holding the BJP, TDP and JSP responsible for denying Special Category Status, he accused all three parties of stabbing Andhra Pradesh.

“These three people stabbed AP and were in a happy marital relationship for four years. Six months before elections, after breaking the alliance, each one is talking differently. One man admits he committed a mistake, the other claims that I did not make any mistake and says that the other two cheated him, another person claims that after getting the approval of the two, I killed [Andhra Pradesh].”

Pawan Kalyan had supported the BJP-TDP alliance in the 2014 elections.

However, after the Centre granted Special Package instead of Special Category Status to the state, Pawan disassociated himself from the alliance.

Strongly condemning the comments of Jaganmohan Reddy, Jana Sena Party member Vijay Babu said that Jagan couldn’t tackle him politically and hence resorted to this personal attack. “Had he (Pawan) violated any law or marriage act, you could question him. But a person who is facing several prosecutions throwing mud on a person who hasn’t violated any law is really surprising and shameful.”

“Don’t kill your personality with such distasteful remarks,” cautioned Vijay Babu to Jagan.

Infuriated with the remarks, Pawan Kalyan fans and others also took to Twitter to condemn Jagan.
