Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP CM Ramesh allegedly attacked an electricity lineman in Pottadurthi in Kadapa district.
The incident happened on Sunday, following which the lineman, Vijaykumar, filed a complaint with the police.
According to the complaint, Vijaykumar was clearing some overgrown branches, to avoid them from touching any electricity lines. As he was doing the job, he cut some branches of a tree that was in Ramesh's house.
Following this, the MP's staff informed the senior TDP leader of the incident. The lineman claimed that the latter then allegedly summoned him, abused him and attacked him.
Vijaykumar told the media that he even suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The police have registered a case for obstructing a public servant from carrying out his/her duties.
CM Ramesh has not addressed the media, despite several channels trying to contact him over the incident.
This incident comes two weeks after the sons of another TDP MP vandalised a toll booth at Bagepalli in Karnataka, after they were asked to pay a toll fee.
The incident happened when the two sons of Hindpur MP Nimmala Kristappa, N Ambarish and N Shirish, and other associates, were travelling from Hindupur to Bengaluru Airport.
A video that surfaced on social media showed the toll booth employee fleeing from his place, as a car comes to a screeching halt near the window and a man steps out of the car and smashes the toll booth window glass.
They allegedly broke the window and computers in the counter and also threatened the staff members.
However, their father justified the behaviour, telling a news channel that although his son did not enjoy the privileges of an MP, the car was going to pick him from the Bengaluru airport.
The duo were arrested, and let off on bail a day later.
