Nethravathi felt a sudden jolt when she was told that both her children suffered from a rare blood disorder which puts their lives at risk. Her two children, Anil and Preetham, are just 7 and 3 years old respectively, but the amount of pain they have suffered already is something most of us would not to suffer all our lives.

“I was shattered when I first found out about my children's disease,” she says, unable to control her tears. Anil and Preetham have been diagnosed with Thalassemia Major. Their condition is worsening and they need a bone marrow transplant urgently.

Thalassemia major is the most severe form of beta thalassemia, and it develops when beta globin genes are missing in the child. The symptoms of thalassemia major generally appear before a child's second birthday. The severe anemia related to this condition can be life-threatening. “They have turned extremely weak and I feel helpless as I am in no position to comfort them. I haven’t been able to sleep and the thought of losing my kids haunts me all day,” she says.

“The doctors have informed us that their condition is critical and we require Rs 38 lakh to save our kids,” she says. Nethravathi’s husband works as a coolie and barely manages to make ends meet.

“We have already sold off our valuables and even taken loans from our family and friends, but we still are unable to fund our kids' life-saving treatment. I watch them bear unimaginable pain while they are battling between life and death. We urgently need your support. Please help us,” Nethravathi says.
