Abhimanyu Ramanandan, who has acted in a few Malayalam movies, was returning from the International Film Festival in Thiruvananthapuram when he met with the accident.

Actor Abhimanyu Ramanandan, who became popular with the music album ‘Mounam Sollum Varthaigal’ died in a road accident in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday night. The accident took place on National Highway 47, near Assan Memorial in Thonnaykkal, in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to the police, Abhimanyu died before he could be taken to a hospital. “He died on the way to the hospital,” Managalapuram police said. The 31-year-old actor, who has also acted in a couple of Malayalam movies, was returning home after attending the International Film Festival, which is happening in Thiruvananthapuram.

A speeding car reportedly rammed into the bike he was riding. Though the police rushed to the spot, his life couldn't be saved.

Abhimanyu’s body was cremated on the premises of his house. His is survived by his wife Arya Raj and children Janaki and Janani. He is the son of Ramanandan and Shyalaja of Melattingal in Thiruvananthapuram.

Abhimanyu donned notable roles in movies such as Dakini and Ottamuri Velicham.

Rahul Riji Nair, who directed the movies, is also the director of the album ‘Mounam Sollum Varthaiga’ as well. The album was released in 2017. Vinitha Koshy is the female lead in the music album. According to reports, the video garnered over 1 lakh views within 36 hours of its release on YouTube. It has now got more than 13 million views on YouTube alone.

Ottamuri Velicham won four state film awards in 2017. The award included the one for the best feature film of the year.
