Last seen sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu and Arun Vijay in Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Arvind Swami’s next release is going to be a thriller titled Kallapart, which also stars Regina Cassandra. The film, directed by Rajapandi of Achamindri fame, features Arvind as a hardware engineer and Regina as a dance teacher. The makers have revealed that the project will release this summer. According to a source from the film’s unit, the makers are hoping to bring the film out this April.

The project went on the floors last October. At the launch event, Rajapandi assured the film won’t be a regular hero-heroine story. The team wanted a fresh actor opposite Arvind Swami and Regina was apt for it. 70% of the film has been shot in Chennai and the action sequences have been shot at a few other locations. A major set was erected in AVM studios where predominant portions of the film have been shot. The film marks the first-time pairing of Arvind Swami and Regina.

On roping in Regina, the director had told the Times of India: “We wanted a performer and someone who is very fit. Regina is one of the fittest actors we have in the industry today. When I met her for the narration, we discussed for nearly an hour and a half. She loved the story, but she wanted to get more clarity on how her role be approached since it is different. But she got convinced; she immediately agreed to come on board.”
