Vedhalam, the Tamil film starring Ajith in the lead, did well at the box office and it is soon to be remade in Kannada. According to reports doing rounds, Darshan has been roped in to reprise the role done by Ajith in the Tamil version and Amulya will be seen playing his sister onscreen.
Amuyla, who was on a break, announced that she will be staging a comeback with a Kannada film that will be directed by a debutant. And now, this news about her sharing screen space with Darshan proves that she is back in full swing. It may be mentioned here that Darshan was initially in talks to star in the Kannada version of Veeram but this project failed to take off for various reasons.
While it has been confirmed that Dharshan and Amulya will form the core actors in the remake, the director is yet to reveal the rest of the star cast. Vedhalam, written and directed by Siva, hit the silver screens in the year 2015. The film was presented by ace producer AM Rathinam with S Aishwarya producing it under the banner Sri Satya Sai Movies. Made on a budget of Rs. 61 crores, the film went on to earn Rs. 130 crores at the box office, proving to be a commercial success.
Vedhalam had Ajith playing the lead role with Lakshmi Menon playing his sister. Shruti Haasan was Ajith’s lead pair in it. The others in the star cast include Rahul Dev, Kabir Duhan Singh, Aniket Chouhan, Soori and Thambi Ramaiah. Anirudh Ravichander had composed music for the film with Vetri cranking the camera and Ruben editing it. Darshan is currently expecting the release of Kurukshetra and is busy with the shooting of Yajamana.
