Actor Dhansika, who has been on a high in Kollywood, is looking forward to her debut in Kannada cinema. Shooting for her debut Kannada film Udgharsha, directed by Sunil Kumar Desai, is progressing at a brisk pace. The bilingual film, made in Kannada and Telugu simultaneously, also stars Thakur Anoop Singh.
On making her debut in Kannada, Dhansika recently told The Times of India, “It is nice to finally do a Kannada film. I like the story and the team is good. Delivering Kannada dialogues, surprisingly, wasn't too tough for me, for I find the language very similar to Telugu. I'm looking forward to expanding my horizon and see how the Kannada industry treats me.”
Dhansika made her acting debut with Peranmai, in which she played one of five female leads. She then went on to bag a role in the Bala-directorial Paradesi, which won her the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in Tamil. She got to share screen space with Rajinikanth in Kabali, which also fetched her another award. She currently has a number of projects lined up, including Vizhithiru, Kaathadi and Kaalakkoothu in Tamil, Kitna, a trilingual film being made in Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu, Solo in Malayalam and Vaalujada in Telugu.
The Udgharsha team recently wrapped up a schedule of shooting in Coorg. The film’s director Sunil Kumar Desai made his directorial debut back in 1989 with Tarak, which earned him the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Screenplay and the Filmfare Award for Best Director in Kannada.
