Tamil film maker Pa Ranjith’s third production venture under his banner Neelam Productions was announced recently which will feature both Kalaiarasan and Arvind Akash. To be directed by Suresh Mari, who has been Ranjith’s assistant for quite some time, the project will go on floors soon and will hit the screens during the first half of 2020.

Pa Ranjith's second production venture called Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu is being directed by his long term assistant, debutant Athiyan Athirai, who has worked with Pa Ranjith on films like Kaala, Kabali, and Madras.

Starring Attakathi Dinesh, Riythvika, Anekha, Munishkanth, and Ramesh Thilak, among others the film has music by newcomer Tenma, who was the music producer of The Casteless Collective band.

Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions made its debut with the critically-acclaimed Mari Selvaraj film, Pariyerum Perumal which chronicles caste-based issues in Tamil Nadu and features Kathir in the role of a youngster from a backward caste facing discrimination. The film has impressed both critics and audiences alike and has been identified as one of the most important films in recent times.

It may be noted Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions is collaborating with filmmaker Jyoti Nisha for a feature-length documentary film about Babasaheb Ambedkar, titled BR Ambedkar - Now and Then.

On the progress of this venture, we hear that it has reached the post production mode. The film was shot in different locations across the country such as Mumbai, Delhi, Dehradun, Nagpur, Pune, Raipur, Punjab, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gujarat, Saharanpur, Shravasti and Lucknow. The team has put in a lot of research into BR Ambedkar - Now and Then due to which the shooting period stretched to around two and half years.

Pa Ranjith is meanwhile working on his Bollywood debut, which is a biography of Birsa Munda, a tribal leader in Jharkhand, who opposed British rule back in the 18th century.
