The latest Tamil movie to make it to Amazon Prime is Ajith and Nayanthara’s Viswasam. A little over a month after its release, the film will now be available to stream on the internet from February 25.

Directed by Siva, the movie proved to be the most successful Ajith film in recent times. According to an official release from the film’s production house, KJR Studios, the film had grossed Rs 125 crore in just eight days in Tamil Nadu, racing ahead of Rajinikanth’s Petta that stood at Rs 100 crore during the same period.

Viswasam starring Ajith and Nayanthara in the lead clashed with Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, a multi starrer produced by Sun Pictures. Both films were released ahead of Pongal on January 10, 2019.

Viswasam tells the story of parental affection, with a message on how to bring up children. It revolved around a broken family where Ajith and Nayanthara played the couple and child actor Anikha played their daughter.

Nayanthara won hearts as Niranjana, an ambitious, free-thinking single mother while Ajith’s Thooku Durai, a village ruffian, was presented as a treat for his fans with plenty of stunts and punch dialogues.

The film received praise from unexpected quarters as well. Chennai Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), S Saravanan, in a Facebook post that has been widely shared since, wrote that he was quite happy to see the importance being given to road safety rules in the film.

Listing down his observations, the officer commended the use of helmets while riding two-wheelers, and wearing of seat belt when it came to four-wheelers, and added that this would inspire scores of Ajith fans to follow their star. “The hero always rode with his helmet while riding a two-wheeler and always wore his seat-belt first when he drove a car,” his post read.

Viswasam marked the fourth-time collaboration between Siva and Ajith following Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam.
