Several trees were uprooted in Hyderabad on Monday due to rainfall and gusty winds. The iconic arc of Moula Ali suffered damages as a part of the arc's upper portion collapsed unable to withstand the heavy wind. As a result of the rainfall, traffic jams were witnessed in several junctions like--Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Somajiguda and Begumpet among others.

There were power outages in several places. However, the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) has been tweeting non-stop from its handle about the areas that are facing power cuts. The TSSPDCL has been giving details of sub-stations that require repair, in a bid to keep consumers know that the department was aware of these outages. However, on many tweets, citizens have replied asking why power has not been restored in their areas despite the rain having stopped.

IMD Hyderabad, Meteorologist, B Raja Rao said that the rainfall was due to the upper air cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal near north coast of Andhra and south of Orissa between 3.6 to 4.5 km above mean sea level.

IMD had earlier issued a warning forecasting thunderstorms along with gusty winds (30-40 kmph).

Rangareddy district in the state recorded the highest rainfall. Meerkhanpet in Kandukur mandal, Rangareddy recorded 92.8 mm followed by Maheshwaram with 71.5 mm. Despite the rain, IMD has warned of heat wave for the next four days in Telangana. The department said that heat wave is likely to prevail in pockets of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Nirmal, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagitial, Rajanna-Sircilla, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Warangal and several other areas.
