The audio launch for Irumbu Thirai was held  on Saturday. Produced by Vishal under his banner Vishal Film Factory, the film also has him playing the lead. This is Vishal’s 24th film.

The launch began with the host asking the audience to take out their mobile phones and turn them on ringing mode. Followed by this, a short promo was displayed on the big screen. While the screen showed Vishal picking up a phone and dialing a number, as if on cue, the camera panned the audience to show that their phones were ringing.

The audience was encouraged by the host to answer the call. They probably heard a message that said “Your phone has been hacked”. ‘Information theft’ is what this film is based on, she said to the audience which was visibly surprised.

The film’s music has been composed by music director Yuvan Shankar Raja and this marks his 125th film. The audio launch had several members from the industry like actors Rajkiran, Rohini, Jaguar Thangam, director Lingusamy, actor and writer Kutty Padmini, G K Reddy, Sathya Jyothi films Thiyagarajan and many others.

During the audio launch, the team made a gesture of donating the money which would have gone to buying bouquets and other felicitation mementos, for the education of two underprivileged children. The director also shared that a real-life incident that had happened to his friend had inspired him to make this film.

“Scams are all around us. A seemingly ordinary message on the phone will turn out to be a dangerous hacking tool. These are things that we’ve experienced in real life. We’ve also discussed the important topic of loan and loan sharks. The film will also ask the important question of ‘are we ready to face the digital era and its consequences?',” said Vishal.

Answering questions on his political ambitions, Vishal said, “If politics means social service and if a politician is a social activist, it means that I’ve already entered politics. I dream that there’s quick action taken for the betterment of people in our country. Everyone who helps the common people is a politician according to me.”

Director Linguswamy released the audio CD that was received by actor Rajkiran and director R K Selvamani.

Vishal plays a military personnel in the film. Actor Samantha Akkineni plays the female lead and actor Arjun has been roped in to play the anti-hero.
