The first part of the NTR biopic, Kathanayakudu hit the marquee as Sankaranthi release and had a lukewarm reception at the box office. Now the filmmakers are gearing up for the release of its second part Mahanayakudu.
While the first part is about the rise of the legendary actor NT Rama Rao as a film star, the second part will be about his journey in the political arena and his phenomenal success.
Mahanayakudu was planned for release on February 7 but now we hear that the release has been postponed by a week. Sources in the know say that the team took a four-day off to celebrate Sankaranthi festival following which the shooting could not be completed on time.
This caused a slight delay, which prompted the filmmakers to reschedule the release date. Now, Mahanayakudu will be hitting the silver screens on February 14.
The NTR biopic is helmed by J Krish and produced jointly N Balakrishna along with Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati. The film has an impressive star cast with Vidya Balan, Mohan Babu, Sumanth, Keerthy Suresh, Rana Daggubati and others.
It has Balayya is playing the role of his dad NTR with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram as Nandamuri Harikrishna, Bharath Reddy as Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, Manjima Mohan as Nara Bhuvaneswari, Sumanth playing Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Vidya Balan as NTR’s wife Basvatharakam, and Rana Daggubati as N Chandrababu Naidu.
MM Keeravani is the music composer for this venture with Gnana Shekar VS cranking the camera and Arram Ramakrishna editing it.
It may be noted here that initially Teja was roped in to direct the film but he was later replaced by J Krish. Sources say that creative differences between Teja and Balayya was the reason for the former’s exit from the project.
