Mammootty’s 'Maamaankam' to release in multiple languages
Mammootty starrer Maamaankam will release in multiple languages, say sources. The film is being made in Malayalam and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages, say a Times of India report. While it was said that Mammootty will be playing a warrior in this historical, sources in the know say that he will be appearing in different get-ups.
Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, Maamaankam began its production with debut director Sajeev Pillai wielding the megaphone. But due to creative differences with the producer, noted filmmaker M Padma Kumar was brought in to replace the filmmaker.
The film has four heroines - Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and Abhirami V Iyer in the cast and those playing supporting roles in it would be Unni Mukundan, Neeraj Madhav, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal. It is presumed that Unni Mukundan will be playing a warrior in it as well.
There is also a strong technical team with Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh wielding the camera, M Jayachandran scoring the music, Sreekar Prasad in charge of the editing, and Kaecha Khamphakdee choreographing the stunts. It is being bankrolled by Venu Kunnampilly under the banner Kavya Films.
Maamaankam is a historical that revolves around the life of the warriors known as Chaaverukal, who plotted against the Zamorin rulers to overthrow them. The film is based on the Maamaankam festival celebrated during the 17th century, in which warriors from different parts of the country would arrive on the banks of the Bharathapuzha to fight against each other to prove their superiority.
According to the latest update about this film, we hear that extravagant sets have been erected on a location spanning over 18 acres of land for the final schedule which is currently on.
Meanwhile, Mammootty starrer Unda is going to release on June 14.
