The Malayalam megastar Mammootty’s film Parole was scheduled for release on March 31 and his fans were eagerly waiting for it. However, the makers of the film have issued a statement on their Facebook page confirming that the release has been postponed and that it will hit the marquee only on April 5.

The Facebook post reads: “Dear all, due to some technical reasons, we regret to announce that our movie release has been postponed to 5th April 2018. Thank you for your patience. Your support and care has been really important to us. Please keep supporting. Let’s join hands to make Parole a big success!”

According to reports doing the rounds, the film’s release had to be postponed to April 5 as there was a delay in obtaining the clearance certificate from the Animal Welfare Board of India, which needs to be submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification, for getting the film’s censor certificate.

Touted to be an emotional drama that will have Mammootty putting on a powerful performance as a prisoner and Communist rebel, the film will feature actor Miya George as his sister.

Directed by Sharrath Sandith, who will be making his debut as director with Parole, the film has been scripted by Ajith Poojappura. The star cast of Parole includes Iniya, Miya, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prabhakar, Lalu Alex, Padmaraj Ratheesh, Juby Ninan, Sudheer Karamana and Alencier Ley Lopez with Mammootty playing the lead role of Comrade Alex.

The film is produced by Antony D’Cruz under the banner Antony D’Cruz Entertainments and distributed by Century Films. The technical crew of Parole includes Sharreth and Ellwyn Joshua as music composers, Loganathan Srinivasan as cinematographer and Suresh Urs as editor.

While Peranbu is gearing up for release next week, Mammootty fans are in for a treat as he has a strong line-up of films including Uncle, Abrahaminte Santhathikal and Maamaankam waiting to hit the silver screens this year.
