Mega star Mammootty’s fans are in for some delightful news. Two of the star’s films will be releasing in the month of February and they are Peranbu and Yatra. Incidentally, both these are not Malayalam films but will be dubbed and released in Malayalam. While Peranbu will be out at the theatres on February 1, Yatra’s release has been planned on February 8 with its US premiere happening a day before.

Director Ram’s Peranbu premiered at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR) last year and received positive response. It was then screened at the Shanghai International Film Festival to extremely good response which has made its release in India highly anticipated. The film, starring Mammootty in the lead, was also screened at the 49th International Film Festival of and was highly appreciated by the delegates.

Starring Mammootty in the lead role, he plays the dad of a girl child in the film. The star cast of Peranbu also includes Anjali, Samuthirakani, Vadivukkarasi, Sadhana, Livingston, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddique and Aruldoss. Anjali, a transsexual woman from Kerala is also playing a pivotal role in the film. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for this flick with Theni Eswar wielding the camera and Suriya Pradhaman editing. The film is bankrolled by PL Thenappan under his banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films. Peranbu is a bilingual that will be released in Tamil and Malayalam simultaneously.

Yatra has Mammootty play the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekar Reddy. Directed by Mahi V Raghav, the biopic has a bevy of stars in the cast including Jagapathi Babu, who plays YSR's father YS Raja Reddy, Rao Ramesh as KVP Ramachandra Rao, who was YSR's closest friend from his medical college days and Suhasini Mani Ratnam as the former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. It also has Anasuya Bharadwaj, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar in supporting roles. The film is produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devireddy under the banner 70 MM Pictures and its technical crew includes K for music, Sathyan Sooryan for cinematography and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.
