With an excellent line-up of films such as Imaikka Nodigal, Aramm, Kolayuthir Kaalam, Velaikkaran and a yet to be titled Telugu project with Balakrishna in her kitty this year, Nayanthara is making very interesting career choices.
She has apparently signed a film titled Co Co, to be directed by debutant Nelson Dilip Kumar. The film will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
“It will be a female-oriented dark comedy on the lines of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. However, Nayan will play the lead and she will have no romantic pair in the film. Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in to compose the music for the film,” a source said, adding that the film will also have Saranya Ponvannan and Yogi Babu in crucial roles.
The project’s announcement comes weeks after Lyca Productions publicly announced that they will not sign new projects until the post-GST ticket rates issue in Kollywood is addressed.
The source added that Lyca went ahead and gave this project the nod as they were really impressed with the script and had the dates of Nayanthara as she was relieved off all her other commitments.
From the first week of August, Nayan will commence work on her project with Balakrishna, with whom she is joining hands for the third time. The film will be directed by K.S Ravi Kumar, who will be making his Telugu debut with this outing. Another interesting aspect is that Lyca, which has so far worked with stars such as Vijay, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, is backing a woman-centric script for the first time and that’s a welcome move. The company also has small projects such as Sai Pallavi’s Karu and Ippadai Vellum.
