After making a splash in Malayalam and Telugu industries with films such as Premam, Kali and Fidaa, Sai Pallavi is making inroads into Tamil filmdom.
Having recently completed shooting for AL Vijay’s Karu, in which she plays a mother to an 8-year-old, Pallavi will be next seen in Dhanush’s Maari 2. Director Balaji Mohan on Thursday announced that the team is thrilled to have her on board and also added that her character will be unique and very important from the story’s perspective.
Maari 2 is undoubtedly the biggest project in Pallavi’s career as yet and she is excited about it. Maari 2 was supposed to materialize much earlier but due to Dhanush’s multiple commitments, including his directorial project Power Paandi, the film had to be pushed.
In the first film, Dhanush played a dhoti-clad, mustache twirling local rowdy and he will return in the same getup for the sequel, which will be bankrolled by Wunderbar Films.
Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas, who has worked in films such as Oru Mexican Aparatha and Godha and recently in Dhanush’s first Malayalam production Tharangam, has been roped in to play the baddie in Maari 2.
The film will be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. One of the big highlights of Maari was its music by Anirudh Ravichander. Following their fall out, Dhanush and Anirudh parted and the former teamed up with Sean Roldan for Power Paandi and VIP 2. It’d be interesting to know if Sean will be retained for Maari 2 or will Dhanush bury the hatchet and go back to Anirudh.
