Hansika, who has worked alongside most of the stars of southern filmdom, will be seen playing a character with multiple shades in her 50th film Maha. The film has been tipped to be an out-and-out female-centric thriller.

In August, the project was announced via a poster by Dhanush, who went on to wish Hansika on the milestone of signing her 50th film. Earlier this week, the makers unveiled two more posters which gave us a glimpse of Hansika’s character and it looks quite interesting. In one of the posters, she’s seen smoking against the backdrop of Banaras.

The film is being directed by debutant UR Jameel, a former associate of director Lakshman, who has directed films such as Romeo and Juliet and Bogan. Interestingly, Hansika played the leading lady in both these projects and apparently it was on the sets of Bogan, Jameel impressed the former with a one-line story.

The project is currently being shot in Pondicherry and the latest update is that actor Srikanth has landed an important role. According to director Jameel, Srikanth’s role will be a surprise as he will undergo a physical transformation.

He went on to clarify that Srikanth doesn’t play the baddie in the film and that his look will be released in a few days. The Nanban actor will join the sets from next week.

Last seen on screen in Vikram Prabhu’s Thuppakki Munai, Hansika has Atharvaa’s 100 and a Telugu comedy flick with Sundeep Kishan. Last year, she made her Malayalam debut with Mohanlal’s Villain, in which she played a character with grey shades. It’d be interesting to see if her character in Maha also has negative shades.
