Following the arrest of a BJP worker in Tamil Nadu for alleged ‘hate propaganda’ against Muslims on Facebook, the BJP’s state unit has now come together to defend the member, with party leaders stating that his arrest is in violation of the Supreme Court's order. Speaking to The News Minute,  BJP National Secretary H Raja alleged that Tamil Nadu police is supporting Muslim fundamentalists.

On January 7, BJP worker Kalyanaraman Rangasamy wrote against Islamic terrorism on his Facebook wall. In his post, he wrote, “‘Hide and when the time comes attack' that's Islam's attacking strategy. On the contrary, Hindu war strategy involves "Dharma" and that is just. Nobody has taught these terrorists to think in a masculine way. These coward terrorists went and attacked when their opposition couldn't defend themselves. They just follow these coward war strategies in Quran. This is what happens when you blindly follow a foolish book.”

Then, he talks about how Maratha warrior Sivaji realized that if his enemy doesn't follow Dharma, then the best way is to fight his enemy in his way. He ends the post by saying "like Sivaji, we should also talk in the enemy's language. Only then they would understand." He was later arrested and is now lodged in the Puzhal jail.

Speaking to The News Minute about the incident, BJP National Secretary H Raja said, “The Tamil Nadu police have become an errand boy in the hands of Muslim fundamentalist elements. When Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK) MLA in Ambur created a big riot and seven women police personnel were beaten and ill-treated they have not taken any action. Property worth several crore rupees in hospitals and buildings belonging to Hindus were damaged and destroyed. The state government had given a solemn assurance that steps would be taken to recover damage from the MMK MLA and his men. But they have not done anything.”

BJP State Secretary and spokesperson K T Raghavan called it a ‘violation of Supreme Court order’. “Supreme Court couple of months ago struck down the provisions of IT Act on Facebook posts. So, the Government should not have arrested Kalyanarman for the Facebook post. It is a violation of the Supreme Court’s order,” he said.

H Raja also spoke about attacks on BJP members and no compensations were given. “BJP worker Sivaprakasam was attacked in Vaniyambadi. Many Hindu organization leaders were killed in the past four-and-a-half years like auditor V. Ramesh, Aravind Reddy, Vellayappan, Dharmapuri councillor Murugan why no compensation was given to Hindu victims? Does the government feel that Hindus are only there to be killed and Muslim are only there to kill? This sends out a very wrong signal.”

Raghavan stated that these are the reasons why there is anger among the Hindu organizations against Tamil Nadu police. He also added that recently government did not give permissions for uniform route-marches for RSS also.

Raghavan said that there are various posts on Facebook against Hindu gods but no action is taken against them. So, it is not right to arrest him after Supreme Court’s judgement. Even atheist groups put up so many posts against gods. He asked that why no actions are taken against them.
