Rajya Sabha MP, Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram questioned the Telangana Rashtra Samiti government in Telangana on the promises it made when it came to power in 2014.
“Although this is a State election, Telangana is one of five States that are holding elections in November-December. Hence, these elections have acquired a national dimension that cannot be ignored. The social, economic and political situations in which these elections are being held are important concerns for the electorate,” said Chidambaram in a statement.
Stating the TRS is on one side and the Mahakutami or grand alliance led by Congress on another, he said that parties were coming together to “save and preserve the idea of India bequeathed to us by the founding fathers of our country.”
Stating that the BJP is trying to divide India on the lines of religion, caste and language, Chidambaram said, “TRS and its leader have not stood up to or opposed the BJP. That stance puts them squarely in the column of the BJP. If the battle in the other four states is to defeat the BJP, the battle in Telangana is to defeat the TRS, which is a proxy of the BJP.”
Furthermore, Chidambaram went on to question the TRS government on many of their promises, including the party’s promise of providing three acres of agricultural land to Dalit families, 12% reservation for members belonging to Scheduled Tribe communities and for minorities, 22 lakh two-bedroom houses, water supply to 1 crore acres of land, and a super speciality hospital in every district and a 100- bed hospital in every Assembly constituency.
He also questioned the TRS government over the promises it made towards education -- free education from KG to PG, a government school in every mandal and a polytechnic college in every Assembly constituency, and regarding the Women’s University, Mining University, Cultural University and Tribal University in the state.
Here are nine questions that Chidambaram posed to KCR.
1. What happened to the promise to provide 3 acres of agricultural land to each Dalit family?
2. What happened to the promise of 12 per cent reservation for scheduled tribes? What happened to the promise of 12 per cent reservation for minorities?

8. What happened to the promise of a government school in every mandal and a polytechnic college in every Assembly constituency?
