Actor Simbu and filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, who have joined hands for the first time for upcoming political thriller Maanaadu, are finally going to start shooting from last week of June. On Wednesday, Venkat Prabhu took to twitter reveal that he is reuniting with Yuvan Shankar Raja for Maanaadu.
“And yes we are back. Here is the update which you guys kind of know by now. Me and Yuvan Shankar Raja re back for STR’s Maanaadu.” It’s been nearly 10 months since it was first announced that Prabhu and Simbu will join hands for a project and since then there’s been no major development. Rumors made the rounds that Maanaadu will go on the floors in October 2018 but for reasons unknown the project never took off.

In April, reports emerged that the project has been shelved and Prabhu has moved on to his next commitment. However, producer Suresh Kamatchi took to Twitter and clarified that the project has not been dropped and will go to set soon.
According to the industry grapevine, Maanaadu is finally expected to start rolling from June 25. Simbu recently returned from London after shedding a lot of weight in preparation for his role in the film which will also star Kalyani Priyadarshan.
The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised shortly. It’s worth mentioning that Prabhu had planned to work with Simbu for a long time. However, things never fell in place as both of them were caught up with their commitments.
Meanwhile, Simbu will begin shooting for the Tamil remake of Kannada blockbuster Mufti from next month. This project, to be directed by Narthan, also stars Gautham Karthik and will be bankrolled by Studio Green.
The original starred Shivrajkumar, Muralist, Shanvi Srivastav and Chaya Singh. The film will be centered on a police officer, played by Srimurali, who goes head to head with an underworld boss, played by Shivrajkumar.
Apparently, Simbu will be seen playing the underworld boss and Gautham Karthik will don khaki for the first time in the role of a police officer.
