C/O Kancharapalem, despite being a small budget film with newbie actors in the cast, turned out to be a big hit. The film’s unique title C/o Kancharapalem is derived from a well-known locality in Vizag and its backdrop is set here. The film was written and directed by Maha Venkatesh, and presented by Suresh Babu under his banner Suresh Productions.
C/O Kancharapalem was a realistic drama that had loads of entertainment. It was produced by US-based Praveena Paruchuri. Being the presenter of the film, Rana Daggubati had tweeted earlier, “Congratulations to team #COKancharapalem, the first Telugu film to be selected for New York Indian Film Festival @nyindianff ! Proud to be presenting it.”
And now, this hit movie is all set to be remade in Tamil and Malayalam. Rajasekar of Tripura fame has bought the remake rights of C/O Kancharapalem. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, he had told, “I am remaking the film in Tamil and Malayalam, and work on the Tamil version has already begun. Hemambharadhar Rao is directing it and we are going to rope in all new faces for the film.”
C/o Kancharapalem was made on a budget of Rs 60 lakh but for the Tamil version he will be shelling out Rs 1 crore. On this, we hear that he had brought the remake rights for Rs 40 lakh so the budget is inclusive of it.
Rajasekar also has plans to make a Telugu film very soon. This time, he will be making a horror flick and intends to rope in a leading heroine for the project. He is expected to announce the details regarding the star cast and crew soon.
