Actor Vijay Deverakonda won the appreciation of netizens after he announced that he would like to auction his maiden Filmfare Award and donate the money towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The actor, who won the Tollywood Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) award for his performance in Arjun Reddy at the 65th Filmfare Awards (South), expressed that he’d be happy if the award was used for the benefit of the city rather than sitting on his shelf at home.
In one of a series of tweets, the actor said, “This award is a bonus. But I’d like it to give it away to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. If they accept it, I’ll go and hand it over to them. Rather than being on my shelf at home it will be more useful for the city I grew up in.”
Tagging Minister of Information and Technology KT Rama Rao (KTR), he tweeted, “Every day I see several people asking for help, and KTR anna would help them through CMRF. If my award can be auctioned and money / awareness can be raised towards this, that’ll be an epic first award.”
Vijay went on to say, “I don’t know how it will work, but I have committed to this. Now this is step one to make it successful. Let’s make this happen.”

Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy was a major hit and is now being planned to be remade in several other languages. He made his debut with Pelli Choopulu, which won the Best Feature Film at the 64th National Films Awards.
The actor’s last release Mahanati, a biopic on the life of legendary yesteryear actor Savitri, was also a blockbuster. His upcoming films include Taxiwala, Geetha Govindham, Dear Comrade and NOTA.
NOTA, directed by Anand Shankar of Iru Mugan fame, will mark the actor’s debut in Kollywood. The film is a bilingual project to be released in Tamil and Telugu. The actor recently impressed the NOTA team by delivering a three-page dialogue in Tamil. The director and senior actor Sathyaraj were stunned equally by his impeccable dialogue delivery. The film is being produced by Studio Green productions and actor Mehreen Pirzada will play the lead opposite Vijay.
Following the sensational hit of Arjun Reddy, the actor has earned fans even in Tamil Nadu.
To keep in touch with his fans regularly, the actor recently launched a website called Rowdy Club (www.rowdyclub.in).
