The makers of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming flick Dear Comrade released the trailer of the movie on Thursday morning. From the trailer, the movie comes across as an intense romantic entertainer, set in the backdrop of violent student politics in Telangana.
In the three minute long trailer, Vijay Deverakonda is shown playing the role of a college student who is actively engaged in student politics and is a member of the Students Federation of India (SFI). Though his principal and father reprimand him to stay away from politics and put a hold on his impulsive behaviour, Vijay prefers to identify himself as a ‘comrade’. The film seems to have a lot of action sequences between the various political parties in college and Vijay, once again, comes across as a young man with severe anger management issues.
Though there were rumours that Dear Comrade is a remake of the Malayalam movie CIA, starring Dulquer Salman, director Bharat Kamma had later denied any connection to the Malayalam flick. The trailer also suggests very few similarities to the 2017 Malayalam movie.
In Dear Comrade, Rashmika, who plays a state level cricket player, is deeply in love with Vijay's character. Towards the end of the trailer, we can see Rashmika looking shattered and telling Vijay that he is unpredictable, and that his anger makes it impossible for her to trust him. This is the second movie after Geetha Govindam where Vijay and Rashmika will be seen together on screen.
Veteran actor Charu Hassan is also seen making an appearance in the trailer.
Dear Comrade is directed by Bharat Kamma and is produced by Y Naveen, Y Ravi Shankar and CV Mohan under the Mythri Movie Makers banner. With music composed by Justin Prabhakaran, the album has already hit a chord with the audience for its soulful melodies and the ‘canteen song’. The movie is all set to hit theatres on July 26.
