There have been reports earlier that choreographer-turned-director A Harsha is in talks to direct a film with Yash in the lead. The film, titled Raana, was announced nearly a year and half ago but there have been no further developments on it till now giving rise to speculations that it may be been dropped. Meanwhile, Yash has moved over to KGF, which is being dubbed as his dream project.
According to sources in tinsel town, the star is not too happy with the script that Harsha had presented to him. Sources add that when Harsha presented the actor with the complete script, he wasn’t too happy and had reportedly told the director to finetune it to meet his approval standards. Further, with the director’s track record not being up to scratch, Yash’s well-wishers reportedly advised him to put Raana in cold storage for the time being.
It may be mentioned here that Harsha had directed films such as Geleya, Chingaari, Vajrakaya and Anjani Putra. Incidentally, his last film, Anjani Putra featuring Puneeth Rajkumar, which was released last year, opened to mixed reviews, which seems to have prompted Yash to reconsider his decision on teaming up with Harsha.
Yash made his debut in 2007 with Jambada Hudugi, in which he played a supporting role. It was his second film, Moggina Manasu, where he played the lead, that proved to be successful and won him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
The actor is currently busy with the multi-lingual KGF, which is to be released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. Written and directed by Prashanth Neel, the film has Srinidhi Ramesh Shetty playing the lead opposite Yash and Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha in the star cast. KGF is bankrolled by Vijay Kiragandur under his banner Hombale Films on a budget of Rs 50 crore. The music for this venture has been composed by Ravi Basrur and cinematography is by Bhuvan Gowda with Shiva Kumar handling the art department.
