In the age of digital media, film promotions can’t get any more creative. How else will you be able to watch actors Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan speak in Tamil?
Yash Raj Films' upcoming epic action-adventure, Thugs of Hindostan (TOH), is gearing up for release this Deepavali, and the film’s star cast includes actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
In a video posted on the film’s social page, actors Aamir and Amitabh are seen speaking in south Indian regional languages - Tamil and Telugu. Captioning it “my first attempt in Tamil, Hope you like it, Love, a” , the Tamil version of the video was shared by Aamir on his official Instagram page.
Thugs of Hindostan is based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug and is being directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. The film will be released in IMAX format in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film’s motion poster was released earlier this month. The makers have since been revealing the characters in the film with first-look posters. TOH will mark the first time collaboration between Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
The film also stars Ronit Roy, Satyadev Kancharana, Abdul Quadir Amin and English actor Lloyd Owen. Jackie Shroff, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan were to be part of the film, but had to turn the offer down due to conflicting commitments. The film has a dance sequence with Amitabh that has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva.
Amitabh Bachchan, who has featured in a few southern projects such as Manam, Kandahar and Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, will be making his Kollywood debut in a full-fledged role alongside actor-filmmaker SJ Suryah in Uyarntha Manithan. The film will be directed by Tamilvaanan, who had previously directed Suryah in Kalavanin Kaadhali.
Aamir Khan was last seen in Secret Superstar. His 2016 hit film Dangal was a major success that also won him the Filmfare award for Best Actor.
