Actress Amala Paul’s Amma Kannaku, the Tamil remake of Nil Battey Sannata, has just released in cinemas. Having recently returned from a much needed break from the Himalayas, she says the trip helped her get in touch with herself. In an interview to The Indian Express, she revealed that she trekked a distance of 110 km at an altitude of 5000 meters. And she is the only girl in her group to have achieved this rare feat.
“I like doing it the hippy way. Read, explore, understand new things – it’s like a rebirth, urge to understand life more. We actors are always pampered and worshipped, surrounded by people who decide our lives. Travel helps me get in touch with myself, the true self,” she said.
Despite a lukewarm response to Amma Kannaku at the box-office, Amala is being lauded by critics and audiences alike for her solid performance as the mother of a 13-year old girl.
