The second schedule of superstar Rajinikanth starrer Darbar is currently underway in Mumbai and the latest addition to the star cast is Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh. Sources told in.com, "Yograj Singh, father of Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh will be playing a very important role in the film. He will also be seen in the opening scene along with Rajinikanth, which will be an intense action block!”
With the rumours surfacing online that the film was wrapped up, director Murugadoss opened up in the latest interview that the film will only be wrapped up by end of August and the current schedule will go on till June end in which major action sequences will be shot.
Recently, well-known Bollywood star Suniel Shetty was roped in to play the main antagonist. Previously, makers roped in Prateik Babbar to play one of the antagonists in the film. It is believed that Prateik will play Suniel’s brother in the film which also stars Nayanthara.
Touted to be a cop drama, Rajinikanth plays an IPS officer in Darbar and one will see him in a cop avatar after a long time, after films like Moondru Mugam and Pandiyan. It is also widely speculated the film will have Rajinikanth playing dual roles. Nayanthara plays the female lead in this film with Prakash Raj, Nivetha Thomas, Prateik Babbar, Dalip Tahil, Yogi Babu, Soori, Harish Uthaman, Manobala, Suman, Anandaraj, Rao Ramesh and Bose Venkat in supporting roles.
Anirudh Ravichander has been confirmed to compose music. While Santosh Sivan will crank the camera, Sreekar Prasad will take care of editing. The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the recent Sarkar controversy. Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, took over the reins of the project and are going all out to make this a lavish project. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala and 2.0.
