While actors like Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya and Vijay Sethupathi have contributed towards the Cyclone Gaja-hit districts in the state, actor and Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) president Vishal has announced that he will be adopting Kaarkavaiyal village in Thanjavur district.
“I swear I will bring back this village to normality and this will be my responsibility forever,” he wrote on his Twitter page. A video also surfaced on social media, where the villagers can be heard thanking Vishal for his generosity. On Sunday, TFPC announced that relief material worth Rs 25 lakhs would be sent to cyclone-affected areas.
On Saturday, it was reported that actor Ajith had donated Rs 15 lakhs towards Gaja relief and rehabilitation to the TN CM's Relief Fund.

Actor Raghava Lawrence, who was last seen in Shivalinga, has also announced that he would be building 50 houses for those in cyclone-ravaged areas. The actor shared that he was moved after watching a video of an old woman who had lost her house to the cyclone.

Tamizhar Kalai Illakiya Panbatu Peravai - an organisation that was formed early this year by directors and actors Barathiraja, Ameer, Ram, Thangar Bachan, RK Selvamani, Samuthirakani, Vetrimaaran, and others - has been visiting cyclone-affected areas. A van carrying relief materials was headed to Muthupettai and Tiruthuraipoondi on Sunday from Thanjavur.
A week after Cyclone Gaja hit coastal and delta districts of Tamil Nadu, the government has revealed that donors across the state have contributed over Rs 13 crores to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
In a statement to the press on Saturday, the Chief Minister’s Office disclosed that Venu Srinivasan of TVS Motors donated Rs 2 crores; Lyca Group donated Rs 1.1 crore; and the main opposition party, the DMK, donated Rs 1 crore.
