In a wonderful boost for the transgender community in India, the country just got its first official transgender band as Y-Films, the youth wing of Yash Raj Films released a video featuring the '6 Pack Band', with them singing their own rendition of Pharell Williams famous song 'Happy'.
The video begins with a narration by Anushka Sharma who introduces the band.
Reports add that the 6 Pack Band has been curated by composer Shameer Tandon and comprises six transgender singers hailing from India’s Hijra community, who will be releasing six songs backed by six music videos.
Anushka Sharma, said in a statement: “I believe that all living beings should be treated with the same respect and dignity. This song is one way to get everyone to tune in to that one thought and beat. Because often where words fail, music speaks.”
The band's next video will also feature Sonu Nigam.
"We are taking one step at a time. There are total six songs. I felt very happy singing with them. They were singing my songs all the time, they have a very good vibe. I really enjoyed their innocence and child-like energy," the singer told reporters.
