Samudram will mark the television debut of actor Jagapathi Babu and incidentally it will also be based on his own life. The 20-episode series will be aired on TV and depict the life of the actor, his journey in the film industry, his life as the son of ace producer VB Rajendra Prasad and so on.

Jagapathi Babu made his debut as hero with the Telugu movie Simha Swapnam, playing a dual role. After playing hero in several films, he tried donning antagonist roles and was successful in that too. Jagapathi Babu is not just the most sought-after actor in Tollywood but in Kollywood, Mollywood and Sandalwood as well. And now, he is set to expand his horizons after a Bhojpuri filmmaker approached him with a role. Sources in the know say that he was impressed with the role and will soon be joining the sets. Besides this, he is also in talks to make his debut in the Punjabi film industry, we hear.

Known for his versatility, he has won several prestigious awards in his career. He bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Lakshyam in 2007, the Best Supporting Actor for Legend in 2014 and the Best Supporting Actor for Nannaku Prematho in 2016; the Nandi Awards by the Andhra Government: Special Jury – Adavilo Abhimanyudu in 1989, Best Actor – Gaayam in 1993, Best Actor – Maavichiguru in 1996, Best Supporting Actor – Antahpuram in 1998, Best Actor – Manoharam in 2000, Best Supporting Actor – Lakshyam in 2007 and Best Villain – Legend in 2014.

Jagapathi Babu began this year with the Malayalam film Aadhi, which marked the debut of Mohanlal’s son Pranav as hero. He starred in an important role in the hit Telugu movie Rangasthalam which had Ram Charan Teja in the lead. Saakshyam and Goodachari are the two other film releases he has had this year.

The actor now has the Kannada movie Uppi Rupee and Malayalam films, the Mohanlal starrer Odiyan and Mammootty starrer Madhura Raja, lined up for release. Jagapathi Babu has two prestigious biopics in his kitty as well – Yathra based on the life of YS Rajashekar Reddy and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy on the legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy.
