With just days to go for the release of Rajinikanth's Kaala, Twitter has launched an emoji with the superstar's Kaala avatar. The emoji appears every time a user types the hashtag 'Kaala' in English, Tamil or Telugu. The Hindi word, however, is 'Kaalakarikalan'.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kaala will release on June 7. Rajinikanth is said to be playing a slum lord-gangster who fights for oppressed Tamil people in Mumbai. Ranjith's last film, also with Rajinikanth, saw the superstar playing a don in Malaysia. Kaala also has Nana Patekar, Eshwari, Samuthirakani, and Huma Querishi in important roles.
While the audio of the film (music by Santosh Narayanan) has received a lukewarm response from the audience so far, expectations from the film are still very high. Rajinikanth's look in the film, dressed as he is entirely in black along with a white beard, has made fans wild with anticipation. Notably, it was in Kabali that Rajinikanth finally played his age for nearly most of the film.
The Twitter emoji shows the actor in profile, with the red outlines standing starkly against the black background. Twitter had also launched an emoji for Vijay's Deepavali release Mersal.
Get ready to celebrate #Kaala with a custom emoji on Twitter. Tweet in Tamil, Telugu or Hindi and use the hashtag #காலா, #కాలా or #कालाकरिकालन to see it appear! pic.twitter.com/gg77OLgJlz

Kaala is the first of Rajinikanth's scheduled releases for the year, the second being Shankar's 2.O. Kaala was initially expected to hit the screens on April 27. However, the date had to be postponed because of the Tamil film industry going into lockdown over rates charged by Digital Service Providers and other issues.
