There have been rumors that Kalidas Jayaram’s Malayalam debut flick as hero, Poomaram has been put in the cold storage but this has been denied by the team.

According to sources, it is true that the film went on the floors last year and it is yet to see the light of day but that doesn’t mean it has been put on the backburner.

There are no production issues that have stalled Poomaram’s progress, claim sources close to the film unit. Things are moving positively and in all probability, the film is slated to hit the silver screens later this year.

Written and directed by Abrid Shine, the film is bankrolled jointly by Dr. Paul Varghese and Abrid Shine under the banner Lime Light Cinemas.

Though Kalidas has acted in quite a number of films as a child artiste after making his debut in Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal in 2000, Poomaram will be his first Malayalam film as hero.

Incidentally, he did make his debut as hero in the Tamil flick Meen Kuzhambum Mann Paanaiyum, which won him the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actor. Poomaram, which commenced at the Maharaja's College in Ernakulam was shot in various locations including Mangalam College in Ettumanoor and St. Thomas College in Kozhencherry.

While it has Kalidas playing the male lead, the star cast also includes Kunchako Boban and Meera Jasmine making a cameo appearance. With the clarification that Poomaram release is very much on the cards and that the team is working towards a suitable release date, the expectation is building up among movie buffs to watch this star kid in action. It may be mentioned here that Kalidas is the son of noted star couple Jayaram and Parvathi.
