Ullekh NP, a Delhi-based journalist working as the Executive Editor of Open Magazine has filed a complaint with the cyber-crime cell of the Kerala Police after receiving a threatening call from a man, reportedly over an article Ullekh had written on the JNU row.
The man, who introduced himself as Kiran, was unhappy with an article that the journalist had written for Kalakaumudi, a weekly magazine. Ullekh in his complaint to the police has said that the man (the number was traced to Kollam) had made an abusive call alleging that the article was “highly misleading and biased”.
"He spoke extensively in Malayalam and said anyone who hurt Hindus will be dealt with appropriately. Finally he threatened to thrash me," Ullekh said.
The caller repeatedly asked the journalist to focus on “atrocities” by Muslim students on various campuses.
In the article titled, “Who is a traitor”, Ullekh had written that the Left, which had spread its roots far and deep at JNU, was obviously powerful. He also argued that the BJP’s electoral machinery was disproportionately massive when compared to their intellectual inputs.
