Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Spyder is gearing up for wide release on September 27. A bilingual spy thriller, the film has been directed by AR Murugadoss, who has joined hands with Mahesh for the first time.

If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, the film won’t feature the usual smoking and drinking statutory advertisement and instead would feature scenes where Mahesh and SJ Suryah are drinking green tea.

Murugadoss is completely against endorsing smoking/drinking on screen and hence he didn’t even want to include it in his film. He doesn’t even want his villain to smoke or drink.

The film marks Mahesh Babu’s Tamil debut. A huge event is being planned on September 9 in Chennai to officially welcome Mahesh Babu to Kollywood.

The audio and trailer of Spyder will be released on the same day, according to reliable sources. In the film, Mahesh plays an intelligence bureau officer and it is said that he performed most of the stunts sans body double, leaving everybody on the sets stunned with his commitment.

The film, tipped to have been made on a budget of over Rs. 100 crore, also features Rakul Preet Singh, Bharath, RJ Balaji, Priyadarshi and SJ Suryah in important roles.

Tipped to be high on never before seen kind of action, the film’s second teaser was released on August 9 on the occasion Mahesh Babu’s birthday.

Reliance Entertainment is said to have bagged the Hindi rights of the film. However, there’s still no confirmation about whether the film will be released in Hindi as well.

Anil Thadani has bagged the north Indian distribution rights of the film. Harris Jayaraj has composed the music. The second single, Haali Haali, from the album was released on September 4.
