The Malayalam mega star Mammootty and ace director Sathyan Anthikad have worked together in several films in the past including Sreedharante Onnam Thirumurivu, Golandhara Vartha, Kalikkalam, Artham and Oral Mathram, which was their last outing together 22 years ago.

They are now gearing up to collaborate again for a film and the work is in progress. Iqbal Kuttippuram, the script writer of hit movies Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Oru Indian Pranayakadha, has been roped in to work on the script of this film as well. According to reports, the film will be going on the floors later this year.

Mammootty currently has two films – Mamaangam and Shylock – in his kitty. Mamaangam has reached the post-production stage and is likely to hit the marquee later this year.

Mamaangam, made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore, is being directed by M Padma Kumar. The film is a historical based on a medieval fair for the warriors. The film has four heroines, Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and Abhirami V Iyer in the star cast. Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh is wielding the camera, M Jayachandran scoring the music, Sreekar Prasad in charge of the editing, and Kaecha Khamphakdee is choreographing the stunts. It is being bankrolled by Venu Kunnampilly under the banner Kavya Films. 

Mammootty is currently busy with Shylock. The shooting of this film commenced last month and is progressing steadily. Shylock will be a bilingual that will be released in Tamil and Malayalam. Directed by Ajai Vasudev, this is the third time he is teaming up with Mammootty. The film has Meena playing the lead role with veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran in an important role. Interestingly, the film will mark the debut of Raj Kiran in the Malayalam film industry.
