The announcement about Mukesh and Saritha’s son Shravan making his debut in the Malayalam film industry has fans excited. The film to be directed by Rajesh Nair went on the floors recently with the official launch which was attended by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan.

Interestingly, sharing the dais on this important occasion were Sharavan’s parents Mukesh and Saritha. The couple divorced seven years ago but their son’s debut seems to have brought them together on the stage. It may be mentioned here that Mukesh, a well known actor and politician, is now married to danseuse Methil Devika.

Kalyanam will have dubsmash fame Varsha Bollamma playing the female lead. The star cast also includes two veterans, Mukesh and Sreenivasan. Reports say that Mukesh will be playing Shravan’s on screen dad while Sreenivasan will be seen as Varsha’s father.

Govind Vijay, Sumesh Madhu and Rajesh Nair have penned the script of the film with the latter wielding the megaphone. The music will be composed by Prakash Alex.

Rajesh Nair made his debut with Annum Innum Ennum in 2013 and went on to direct Escape from Uganda and Salt Mango Tree. On selecting Shravan for the role, the director had said in an interview to the Times of India, “I met Shravan in Dubai once, and was impressed. I was looking for a 'guy next-door' too. When I spoke to him about the story, he was interested.”

On selecting the heroine, Rajesh had said, “She has acted in a Tamil film but this will be her Mollywood entry. The story will revolve around a couple. Will they marry or not is the question.”

It may be noted here that Shravan was employed in Dubai before the acting bug bit him and he decided to follow the footsteps of his famous parents.
