Is this criticism too harsh and premature? Well, people who have seen the shots from the film don’t think so!

The Telugu version of Malayalam blockbuster “Premam” is all set to release for Dussehra this year. Featuring Naga Chaitanya, Anupama Parameshwaran, Shruti Haasan, and Madonna Sebastian in the lead roles, the buzz around Telugu “Premam” is quite high. However, there is a lot of negativity surrounding the film after the Telugu version of the hit song 'Malare' was released. The song titled 'Evare' features Shruti Haasan as the college teacher and Naga Chaitanya as the student.

Meme 1- Reaction of Nivin Pauly, friends and others after seeing the Telugu version of “Malarey”.

Meme 2-  Nivin Pauly: 916 Gold; Naga Chaitanya: 'Rolled' Gold

Nivin Pauly’s “Premam” was a phenomenal success – and not just in Kerala. In neighbouring Tamil Nadu, it ran for over 200 days in Escape theatre. The film did well across South India and achieved cult status. Apart from George, played by the dashing Nivin Pauly, Malar (Sai Pallavi) won the hearts of all “Premam” fans.

Unassuming and full of beans, Malar Teacher was an instant hit with the audience. Sai Pallavi is not your average heroine and Alphonse Puthren did not airbrush her flaws from the frames – he chose to celebrate them.

Meme 3- Audience reaction after seeing the two actors.

With Shruti Haasan playing the same role in the Telugu version (the other two female leads are being played by the same actors who did the Malayalam original), the disappointment among fans is palpable.

Meme 4- Jagathy (in gray) is marked as Malayalee. Mohanlal is marked as Naga Chaitanya. The caption reads, “All of you are going to ruin Premam!”

For fans who loved Malar for her fresh and unconventional looks, it’s hard to accept Shruti Haasan in her place, given that the latter is every bit the dolled-up, stereotypical heroine.

Meme 5- Alphonse and Nivin who watched the Telugu version of the song are speechless.

Is this criticism too harsh and premature? Well, people who have seen the shots from the film don’t think so!

And this troll song is going viral!

Meme 6 : Actor Arjun reacting to the Telugu remake of Premam, saying please stop it, I can't see this.
