Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen playing a character called Jithu in superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta, has an interesting line-up of projects this year. One of these projects is a film with director Vijay Chandar, best known for directing Vikram starrer Sketch.
In September last year, Vijay Chandar took to Twitter and wrote: “Happy to announce that I’ll be joining hands with my favorite hero Vijay Sethupathi for next film with Vijaya Productions. We’re set to roll from February (2019).” Apparently, this yet-untitled project will be a commercial family entertainer that’ll be predominantly set in Chennai. It has already been confirmed that D. Imman will compose music.”
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Raashi Khanna has been signed as the leading lady. This will be the first time she will play Vijay’s pair. An excited Raashi took to Twitter to make the announcement. Raashi, who made her Tamil debut via Imaikka Nodigal last year, currently has nearly half a dozen Tamil projects in her kitty. Even though Raashi didn’t have a solid role in her maiden Tamil film, she managed to make a mark in the industry with her talent. Interestingly, Raashi might also join hands with Simbu in Venkat Prabhu’s Manaadu.
Talking about the project, Vijay Chandar had said: “I’ve met Vijay Sethupathi a few times, and during one of those meetings, I happened to narrate a one-liner about the film to him, and he was kicked. He has done a variety of roles, and he told that he wanted to do a mass film now. Even I like making mass commercial films, and we thought this script could work for both of us.”
Further, Vijay Sethupathi is all set to make his acting debut in the Telugu film industry with the Chiranjeevi starrer Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The shooting of this biopic on the legendary freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy is currently on and it is scheduled for release on Independence Day this year.
