Two films and one web series are being made on late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in Tamil. While the first-look of the two films, headed by actors Kangana Ranaut and Nithya Menen have been released, the one for the web series was kept under wraps for so long.
The official poster of Queen starring Ramya Krishnan in the lead was shared on the MX Player Twitter page on Wednesday, amidst high expectations. The poster announces that the trailer will release on December 5, coinciding with Jayalalithaa’s death anniversary.

Ramya Krishnan, who is every filmmakers’ favourite choice to play powerful roles on screen, be it Amman (the female goddess) or the mighty queen (Sivagami in Baahubali), will be portraying the role of Jayalalithaa in this web series.
In the first look, dressed in a white saree with the AIADMK tricolour border, Ramya Krishnan stands with her hands folded, a stern look on her face. Behind her, there’s a crowd waving party flags and holding placards with the two-leaf symbol. Ramya Krishnan’s first look from the web series was leaked a few days ago and received praise from fans, with some calling her the most suited to playing the role.
The teaser for this web series was released on December 1. All through the teaser, the makers were careful not to reveal the actors’ faces. The web-series has been co-directed by Prasath Murugesan of Kidari fame and Gautham Menon.
According to reports, besides the real-life story, the web series will also have a fictional take. The web series has been written by Reshma Ghatala who had co-produced Thanga Meengal. Queen first season will have 11 episodes and is set to premiere on MX Player.
When the web series’ first-look was released in September this year, Jayalalithaa’s nephew Deepak had expressed his discontent. Deepak told Deccan Chronicle that he has no problem if the filmmaker was going to portray her political life but that they should have taken his and Deepa's consent if they were going to portray her private life.
