Actor Simbu, who was last seen on screen in Sundar C’s Naan Rajavathaan Varuven, is all set to commence work on his much-awaited political thriller Maanaadu with director Venkat Prabhu. It’s been nearly a year since it was announced that Venkat Prabhu and Simbu will join hands for a project.
In between, the producer announced that the project with Simbu is being shelved and that a new star will be roped in while the rest of the cast and crew will be retained. In retaliation, Simbu had announced another film titled Magaamaanadu.
However, since then, the producer and Simbu have had discussions and the actor is back on board Maanaadu. Producer Suresh shared pictures with the star on his social media pages. He announced that Simbu is back and that the shooting dates of Maanaadu will be announced soon. The film's launch date will be decided when Simbu gets back from Sabarimala.
Sources told TNM that the issues between the producer and the star have been sorted out amicably and that Simbu has offered his full cooperation. It is following this that the project is getting re-launched.

It’s worth mentioning that Venkat Prabhu had planned to work with Simbu for a long time. However, things never fell in place as both of them were caught up with their commitments. The film will also star Kalyani Priyadarshan as the leading lady, while the rest of the cast and crew will be finalised shortly.
Meanwhile, Simbu also has the Tamil remake of Kannada blockbuster Mufti in hand. This project, to be directed by Narthan, also stars Gautham Karthik and will be bankrolled by Studio Green. The original starred Shivrajkumar, Muralist, Shanvi Srivastav and Chaya Singh. The film will be centered on a police officer, played by Srimurali, who goes head to head with an underworld boss, played by Shivrajkumar. Apparently, Simbu will be seen playing the underworld boss and Gautham Karthik will don khaki for the first time in the role of a police officer.
Simbu also will be seen in an extended cameo role in Hansika Motwani's Maha which happens to be her 50th film. The actor's portion will appear in the flashback and he plays the role of Shoiab.
