Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s debut production Kanaa, which marks the directorial debut of lyricist-turned-filmmaker Arunraja Kamaraj, has successfully completed its shooting last month and entered the post-production stage.

The latest news about the film is that Sivakarthikeyan has sung a track along with his daughter Aaradhana. The song, titled ‘Vayadi Petha Pulla’, is composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas.

Talking about the track to TOI, composer Dhibu said, “It is a father-daughter song that traces Aishwarya’s childhood, back in her hometown. It is more like a village track as she connects to her family with this song. This is, in fact, the first song in the film and a pretty long track. There is a portion in the song that needed a kid’s voice. I couldn’t think of anyone else except for Aaradhana to record this number.”

Earlier, young composer Anirudh had crooned a folk song which has been penned by Arunraja Kamaraj. The song, picturised on Aishwarya Rajesh and Darshan, is about a boy trying to gain the love of his sweetheart with beautiful phrases.

The audio and trailer of Kanaa will be unveiled on Thursday in Chennai. The teaser will be unveiled by popular Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana, who is a star player of the Indian women’s cricket team, along with D Imman, Anirudh and Pandiraj.

The first look and motion poster of the film, a sports-based drama on women’s cricket, were released in May. Aishwarya Rajesh plays the titular role while veteran actor Sathyaraj plays her father in the film. The film is said to revolve around a young girl named Kausalya who hails from a village and aspires to become a cricketer and makes it big in national level cricket. Unlike many of the recent outings, Kanaa is neither a biopic nor inspired from anyone’s life.

Award-winning actor Aishwarya Rajesh has a good number of films coming this year, including Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Rathindran R Prasad’s Idhu Vedhaalam Sollum Kadhai, AL Vijay’s Lakshmi, Vetrimaaran’s Vada Chennai and Gautam Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram. She was last seen in Gemini Ganesanum Suruli Rajanum.
