Unni Mukundan began his acting career in 2011 with the Tamil film Seedan and has been bagging some of the best projects since then. The latest film he has signed happens to be Chanakya Thantram, directed by Kannan Thamarakulam.

While sources say that he will be playing a con man in the film, there are reports that the actor will be seen in multiple avatars thereby giving him adequate scope to showcase his acting skills. According to the director, who spoke about the project to The New Indian Express, “Chanakya Thantram is a thriller packed with action. But, there is a strong romantic thread too. Unni's character has certain suspense and mystery to it. He will be seen as a shrewd guy who has a few tricks up his sleeve. Though the movie is titled Chanakya Thantram, it will be a contemporary tale shot in and around Kochi.”

On the role that Unni Mukundan plays in the film, the director has said that though Unni Mukundan plays the main protagonist in the film, he will have some traits of a villain. Kannan Thamarakulam also pointed out that the title Chanakya Thantram may sound historical but the film is set in the contemporary milieu shot in Kochi and places surrounding it.

Other than Unni Mukundan in the lead role, the film also has Anoop Menon playing a crucial role. According to the director, Anoop Menon also has equal scope in the film as Unni Mukundan. Chanakya Thantram is all about some incidents bringing the two, who live in different parts of the world, together. The star cast also includes Sshivada and Sruthi Ramachandran. Chanakya Thantram is bankrolled by Muhammed Faisal under his banner Miracle Productions. Scripted by Dinesh Pallath, the film’s music has been composed by Shaan Rahman.
