One of the biggest hits and scariest horror flicks from the Kannada film industry Shhh is all set to be re-released in theatres after 24 long years.

The announcement has been made that this suspense horror would be out in theatres soon and that the filmmakers are working on the date. Reports say that Shhh will be released with modern technological improvements such as the 5.1 digital surround sound effects and digital re-mastering.

Shhh, written and directed by Upendra, was released in 1993, and it had him make a cameo appearance as a police officer. Kamal Govind had produced the film under his banner SK films and had played the lead role in it as well.

The rest of the star cast of Shhh include Kashinath, Suresh Heblikar Megha, K. Praveen Nayak, Goturi, N.B. Jayaprakash (JP), and Bank Janardhan. Music composer Sadhu Kokila also made a cameo appearance in this flick. Ashok Kashyap had cranked the camera and R. Janardhan had edited the film.

Scoring big at the box office, this film also went on establish Upendra as a leading director while Sadhu Kokila created a mark for himself as an actor and musician. During an interview to a leading weekly several years ago, Upendra revealed that the story of Shhh was developed from Nigooda Neralugalu, a story that he worked on with his friends during his college days.

It may be mentioned here that this is not the first time a Upendra film is being re-released - the actor-director’s Om  re-released earlier in over 600 screens in Karnataka.
