Vijay Sethupathi, who was recently seen playing a trans woman character in Super Deluxe, has reunited with director SP Jananthan for a project titled Laabam, which will be bankrolled by Vijay Sethupathi Productions in association with Arumuga Kumar, who had produced Sethupathi’s Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren.
The project, which also stars Shruti Haasan, Kalaiarasan and Jagapathi Babu, had its launch ceremony earlier on Monday. Sethupathi and Jananthan had previously worked together in Purampokku, which also starred Arya as one of the leads. Shruti Haasan teams up with Sethupathi for the first time in this project.
Last seen in Suriya’s Singam 3, Shruti hasn’t signed any Tamil projects for close to two years now. She had recently signed a Hindi film with actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar.
Work on the first schedule of this big budget action film got began on Monday with a pooja at Rajapalayam. D. Imman has been roped in to compose music while Ramji will crank the camera. Meanwhile, Sethupathi has just wrapped up shooting for Sindhubaadh with Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi director Arun Kumar. Having completed the first schedule of the film in May in Tenkasi, the team recently wrapped up their final schedule in Thailand where they shot for over a month.
Sethupathi also has a project with Seenu Ramaswamy in his kitty. He is also simultaneously shooting for his next project with director Vijay Chandar, best known for directing Sketch. Raashi Khanna is acting with Sethupathi in this project.
