The makers of Raatchasi, Jyothika’s upcoming Tamil film, unveiled the trailer of the movie on Friday evening. Directed by Gowtham Raj, the movie has Jyothika playing the role of a teacher, Geetha Rani, who is on a mission to revamp the government school she is working for. Struggling yet determined, the trailer has the protagonist fighting against forces who do not wish any better for the children of the state owned schools.

The two-minute long trailer shows Jyothika in a never before seen get-up. Cotton sarees and collared blouses with hair neatly put up in a bun, the actor comes across as a tough woman with the right intentions. Throughout the trailer, she is seen posing certain difficult questions to both her students and colleagues which rattle the higher-ups in the school management. While Jyothika talks about setting aside 50% of the seats for the poor in private schools, the school management is set on throwing her off from the job by hook or crook.

The trailer end and Jyothika is shown as indomitable, with the actor proclaiming her rights over the school.

Produced by SR Prabhu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures, the project will also mark the directorial debut of Gowtham Raj. The film will be hitting the theatres in June.

According to media reports, a grand school set reportedly worth Rs 50 lakh was set up for the film. Raatchasi also stars Poornima Baghyaraj, Sathyan and Hareesh Peradi in key roles.

Interestingly, Jyothika was last seen playing the role of a teacher in her 2003 blockbuster hit Khaaka Khaaka directed by Gautham Menon in which she starred opposite Suriya.

Jyothika is also currently acting in a movie being helmed by director Kalyaan of Gulaebaghavali fame. Touted to be a dark comedy thriller, she shares the screen with veteran actor Revathy in the movie, which is being produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Also starring Yogi Babu, Ananda Raj, Mansor Ali Khan, the film has music by Vishal Chandrasekhar. She's playing her brother-in-law Karthi's sibling in her next film which is to be directed by Jeethu Joseph.
