Reminding you of one of her older performances as the bold Bhadra in Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu, actor Manju Warrier appears to play another courageous young woman in a crisis in Prathi Poovenkozhi. The trailer that released on Sunday morning begins with her saying, “I am scared too, but I can’t just sit back doing nothing.”

Director Rosshan Andrrews, who brought the star back to acting after a gap of 14 years, is the director of Prathi Poovenkozhi (The accused is a rooster). In the trailer, Manju Warrier appears to play a saleswoman in the backdrop of a crime. Saiju Kurup plays the cop, Anusree a friend, and Alencier another close acquaintance. A few days ago, it was revealed that Rosshan would make his acting debut with the film, and you see a glimpse of him too in the trailer. The trailer ends with a man’s voice saying, “Women are a curse on earth. Every one of you is a curse,” and Manju’s voice saying, “Stop it!”

The film is written by Unni R, a change for Rosshan’s films which are mostly written by the duo Sanjay and Bobby. The film is produced by Gokulam Gopalan and co-produced by VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan. G Balamurugan is the cinematographer and Sreekar Prasad is the editor. Music is by Gopi Sunder.

Prathi Poovankozhi will release on December 20, Manju had earlier posted on social media.

Manju Warrier made her comeback to cinema through Rosshan’s 2014 film How Old Are You. She played a woman who ‘forgot her dreams’ when she settled into family life, became a wife and mother, and started working. A question her daughter asks the president who visits her school puts Manju’s character into a difficult position, who then goes on to break certain boundaries and lead a project.
