In view of AIADMK General Secretary Sasikala’s imminent arrival at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru, the city has beefed up security arrangements in and around the jail.
A hundred police personnel have reportedly been deployed in the area.
"All security arrangements have been made for Sasikala’s arrival near the prison. Police personnel will be deployed near Parappana Agrahara Central Prison and Hosur Road, up to the court complex," said Praveen Sood, Police Commissioner.
Arrangements are also being made to shift the court hall to Parappana Agrahara prison, where Sasikala, Ilavarasi and VN Sudhakaran will surrender.
The move comes even as Thambidurai and a few other supporters of Sasikala were at Parappana Agrahara prison to oversee the arrangements to be made for the AIADMK General Secretary, according to local media reports.
According to a senior police official, police personnel will be deployed at Hosur check post, which borders Tamil Nadu, to prevent the flow of Sasikala’s supporters into the city.
Sasikala is on her way to the prison after she was denied time to surrender by the Supreme Court. Refusing to accept a plea, the apex court told Sasikala’s lawyers that they do not intend to pass any further orders, and that she has to surrender immediately.
If she does not surrender by Wednesday, the Karnataka trial court can act against Sasikala and co, and can issue an arrest warrant against the trio.
Sasikala’s counsel, senior SC lawyer KTS Tulsi appeared before the bench on Wednesday morning and sought time for her, stating that she needed it to manage her affairs before going to jail.
However, the SC flatly refused to accept the plea, and stated sternly that ‘immediately means immediately’.
