A mother and her two sons were found dead at a private lodge near the Ernakulam South Railway Station on Saturday. The police identified the deceased as 69-year old Radhamani and her two sons R Sureshkumar (43) and R Santhosh Kumar (40). They are reportedly Kerala natives who were settled in Bengaluru.

According to a report in Mathrubhumi, the bodies are two days old.

“As per the preliminary investigation, they died by suicide. The relatives came from Bengaluru after we informed them, and they are in Alappuzha. The dead bodies are in Medical College, Alappuzha, for post-mortem,” an officer at the Central Police Station told TNM.

Police said that they assume the trio consumed poison. The three of them had reportedly not come out of the room for the past couple of days, and according to the police, the room was locked from inside.

The staff of the lodge informed the police after the trio didn’t leave the room.

Two dead bodies were found on the bed while the third was lying on the floor and a bottle of poison was also recovered from the spot.

Radhamani and her sons took the room a week ago — on October 14 — in the evening. They informed the lodge that they were staying there as Radhamani was getting treatment nearby and that they would vacate the room on Wednesday.

On Wednesday they extended their stay for two more days. They have stayed in the lodge earlier as well.
